Tapissier: a worker shaping all sorts of tapestries and fabrics, who used to cover the walls, or decorate the inside of pieces of furniture with more or less precious fabrics.
In the Middle-Ages, there were 3 classes of “tapissiers”: the “tapissiers sarrazinois”, the “tapissiers nostrez” and the “tapissiers de haute-lisse”, or “Haulissiers”, named this way because of the kind of looms they worked with.
